The button-fly doesn't posses the utility in emergency situations that the zipper does.
That is why survival of the fittest is making the button-fly less common in my opinion.

Oh man, I'd rather wear no pants at all than go around getting sniped.
Sweatpants are the stealthiest, I imagine.
